LG Lucky L16C Tracfone Android Review

LG Lucky Review, Specs and Details - Android Tracfone

This post shares the latest information on the LG L16C Lucky and includes our review and comparison to other available devices. We hope this information is helpful, and will continue to update as more details become available.

lg lucky review tracfone
LG Lucky Review
Another new Android device is available for use with Tracfone, and it is the LG Lucky, also known as L16C. This is an android powered device that is for use with Tracfone prepaid service.

Tracfone sells both prepaid cell phone service, and cell phones to use with their service at fairly low prices. The phones available through Tracfone are not the latest options, but have enough features to satisfy most users. For those who demand a lot from their device, consider learning about Tracfone 4G LTE service which allows you to use top of the line Android and Apple devices.

The LG Lucky is the latest in a growing selection of smartphones that Tracfone continues to deliver since their first meager offering back in 2013 (do you remember the LG Optimus Dynamic?). You can see for yourself on our Android Tracfone List.

Phones have slowly improved over time, with several devices sporting 4" or greater screens, better processors, and more memory. The LG Lucky, while not at the top end of available phones, is a solid contender and compares similarly to the Samsung Galaxy Stardust and LG Optimus Fuel. The LG Ultimate 2 would be a good choice for those looking for a larger screen.

We can see straight away that the Lucky has a smaller, 3.8" screen. For most people, this is a big drawback. But some consumers would prefer a smaller device. Some of the other notable features include a 1.2 Ghz dual core processor, and Android 4.4.

Let's get into the full list of specs and features on the LG Lucky.

LG Lucky Specs and Features List

These are the current features available on the LG L16C Lucky smartphone.
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 3G Connectivity on Verizon Towers
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Triple Minutes for Life Split into Text/Talk/Data
  • Hands Free Speaker
  • Hearing Aid Compatible
  • Access to Over a Million Applications through Google Play
  • Up to 32 GB SD Card Compatible, comes with 4 GB SD Card
LG L16C Lucky Specs
  • Size: 4.43" x 2.50" x 0.49"
  • 3.8" Touchscreen
  • 1.2 Ghz Dual Core Processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Internal Memory - Unconfirmed
  • Weight: 4.2 ounces
  • Battery: 7 Hours Talk Time, 10 Days Standby
There are a couple of features that stand out on this device, such as the processor and RAM. We also like that it has Android 4.4.

Let's get into our review of the LG Lucky to give a better idea of how the device compares to other phones.

LG Lucky L16C Review - Likes and Dislikes for the Phone

Straight away we find that the Android 4.4 KitKat is a great OS to use. It is compatible with an extremely wide variety of apps through Google Play that give the LG Lucky many additional uses. You can take a look at our List of the Best Android Apps for some ideas.

The LG L16C also has a 1.2 Ghz dual core processor, and 1 GB of RAM. Both of these are better than Tracfone's original Android offerings like the ZTE Valet, which means the Lucky will be faster, and able to have more apps running at one time. However, modern smartphones are now running with at least 2 GB RAM, and often quad core processors. If you're planning on being a heavy user, especially with games, you may want to look for a more robust device.

While the size, at 3.8", might turn some people away, we find this is a convenient size for those who don't want to do much on their phone beyond talking and occasionally texting or checking email. If you do plan to do more than that, a 4" screen or larger is just much more convenient.

We have not confirmed how much internal memory is available, but you can use up to a 32 GB external SD card with this phone, and it even comes with a 4GB card which is great for loading some music or videos on.

The battery life on the LG Lucky isn't as great as some devices, especially the Moto E, which has a very nice battery life.

The LG Lucky will use Verizon towers through Tracfone's prepaid service, so be sure to check what the service will be like in your area before buying the phone. Android phones split minutes into three separate pools of Talk, Text and Data.

The camera on the Lucky isn't very impressive, and it doesn't appear to have a front facing camera either.

Overall, the LG L16C is a versatile, average performing Android device that might be right for certain people. Starting at just $60, it is a lot easier on the budget, but you might be better off with an LG Optimus Fuel which shares many similarities, but can be found on Amazon for $30.

How the LG Lucky Compares to Other Android Phones

tracfone lg l16c lucky
Access Google Maps on the LG Lucky
The LG Lucky is very similar to several other Tracfone devices including the LG Optimus Fuel, and Samsung Galaxy Stardust. Indeed, these phones share many of the same features with only slight variations such as screen size or memory.

The LG Ultimate 2 is a little ahead of the LG Lucky in performance and screen size, plus the Ultimate 2 has a nice amount of Internal Memory.

The Lucky is recommended over the ZTE Valet, LG Optimus Dynamic, Samsung Galaxy Centura and Unimax Max Patriot phones. These phones are all a bit too old to be very useful anymore.

We are excited to share that it appears that Tracfone may also releasing several more phones, including the devices for use on GSM networks. These devices are the LG L15G (same as the LG Lucky, but for GSM) LG L22C and LG L21G. The LG 22C and 21G are the same, but for CDMA and GSM respectively and will feature Android 5.0. No word on when these will be released, but we will keep you updated!

Read up on our GSM vs CDMA comparison if you aren't quite sure what this all means.

For a full list of phones, check out our Cell Phone Reviews page.

Where to Buy the LG Lucky and Covers/Cases

We have currently only found the LG Lucky on the Tracfone website. Head over there and then shop their phone selection to see the device. Tracfone may go out of stock, in which case they remove the listing.

We will update when the Lucky is available through other retailers.

You can find plenty of cases and covers for the LG Lucky on retailers such as Amazon and eBay. Here are the LG Lucky Cases we've found on Amazon.

You can also take a look at the interactive tutorial for the LG Lucky.

The LG Lucky is another stop in Tracone's slow progression of Android devices, and it offers some nice features, but we hope Tracfone continues to bring us more modern smartphones.

UNIMAX MaxPatriot Tracfone Review

Review of the Unimax MaxPatriot Android Phone from Tracfone

This review will provide specs and features for the Tracfone UNIMAX 671c MaxPatriot, as well as a comparison to other phones available, and is provided by TracfoneReviewer.

tracfone unimax review
UNIMAX MaxPatriot with Tracfone
The UNIMAX MaxPatriot is an Android powered smartphone offered by Tracfone Wireless for use on their prepaid cell phone network. Tracfone offers a variety of phones and prepaid service options, which you can learn more about by reading our Beginners Guide to Tracfone.

Tracfone continues to release smartphones running the Android Operating System. These phones provide more features and functionality, with the ability to download and use applications on them.

Not a lot of information is available about the UNIMAX company, or sometimes UMX Mobile. They appear to be based in China, and are expanding into the Android mobile phone market quickly. Quality may not be quite on par with more established brands like Samsung, LG and Motorola.

The UNIMAX MaxPatriot comes with a 4" screen, Android 4.1, and a 5 MP camera. You also get Triple Minutes for Life, which all Android phones from Tracfone come with.

There are several other options for smartphones with Tracfone, including the Tracfone BYOP program, where you can bring certain phones to use with Tracfone. Also take a look at our Tracfone Android List for a complete of the smartphones available through Tracfone.

Some of the current top phones from Tracfone are the LG Ultiamte 2, Moto E, and Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop. We will briefly compare these with the MaxPatriot a little further on.

Let's jump into the features and specs on the UNIMAX phone.

UNIMAX MaxPatriot Features
  • Android 4.1.2
  • 3G on Verizon Networks
  • WiFi
  • 5 MP Rear Camera
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • MP3 Player
  • Micro SD Card compatible up to 64GB
  • Triple Minutes for Life
  • Hearing Aid Compatible
  • Voicemail, SMS, MMS and Voice dialing

UNIMAX MaxPatriot Specs and Technical Details
  • Size: 4.80" x 2.46" x 0.41"
  • 4" Touchscreen
  • 1.2 Dual Core processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 1.5 GB Internal Memory, about 1 GB Usable
  • Weight: 4.6 ounces
  • Battery: Talk Time 7 Hours, Standby 8 Days
The features are fairly straight forward and similar to many of Tracfone's other Android devices. The UNIMAX has WiFi, Triple Minutes for life, Micro SD card slot, GPS, and more.

The technical specs are where we get a little disappointed.

The MaxPatriot comes with a 4" touchscreen, which larger than some other Tracfone devices, but smaller than some as well. The Dual Core processor sounds good, but the internal memory is very disappointing, with only about 1 GB actually usable. Some apps can be loaded on an external SD card, but we would still like to see closer to 8 GB.

The LG Ultimate 2, for example, has more than 4 GB internal memory.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's go over some of our likes and dislikes about the UNIMAX, and then we will compare it with some other phones.

UNIMAX MaxPatriot Review - Likes and Dislikes

What we like about the MaxPatriot
tracfone unimax maxpatriot
UNIMAX MaxPatriot with Maps
The UNIMAX 671c has many of the standard features of an Android smartphone with Tracfone service.

We like that it comes with the Android OS, which allows users access to over a million apps. These apps have huge potential, and give the phone many added benefits and features.

Take a look at our List of the Best Apps for Tracfone Android for some ideas.

While it is great that the MaxPatriot has Android, it isn't the latest version.

The screen size is another good point for the phone. At 4", it is mid-sized in the Tracfone lineup, which will be exactly what some users are looking for. Not everyone wants a large phone, although it is nice sometimes. The LG Optimus Fuel, for example, has a smaller, 3.5" screen while the Alcatel Onetouch Has a much larger screen, at 5".

We do think that the price, listed at $70, is more or less reasonable. And it is likely to be available for much less online, which makes this a very affordable phone.

Let's move on to our dislikes for this phone, of which there are a few.

What we Dislike about the UNIMAX MaxPatriot
We do have a handful of grips against the MaxPatriot, partially because it is an older phone, and there are much more advanced phones currently available with Tracfone.

The rear camera on the UNIMAX has 5 MP, which is good. But it doesn't have a front facing camera, which we find disappointing.

Internal Memory is probably one of our biggest disappointments with the UNIMAX MaxPatriot. At only 1.5 GB total internal space, and less than 1 GB actually usable, we're not sure how useful this phone will actually be for most people. Unless you can move a large number of apps to the external SD card, you will be limited in your options.

Battery life seems poor on the UNIMAX, with 7 hours talk time listed, but often even less actually achieved. The Moto E, which has great battery performance, has more than double the talk time of the MaxPatriot, at 16.5 hours. If you can stay close to a charger, then it isn't a worry, but otherwise you may look elsewhere.

Finally, we've noticed a number of consumers echoing dissatisfaction with the overall quality and design of the phone. For some users, it works great, but others report various bugs, or a completely dead phone after just a few months.

The UNIMAX MaxPatriot has some decent features, but it doesn't seem to be a phone that will be too popular.

Using Android Phones with Tracfone

We want to highlight some important points about using an Android phone with Tracfone, that you might not be aware of.

First, All Android phones with Tracfone currently use Verizon CDMA cell towers. Tracfone has some sort of contract with Verizon. This means that if Verizon service isn't available in your area, then you can't use a Tracfone smartphone there either.

All Tracfone Android devices come with Triple Minutes for Life, and minutes are split into three pools: calling, texting, and data.

For more differences and information, read our post on the 6 Major Differences Between Android and Non-Android phones.

And if you just want to learn about how minutes work, take a look at How Tracfone Minutes Work on Android Phones.

UNIMAX MaxPatriot Comparison to Other Androids

We will quickly compare the UNIMAX to some of the other popular smartphones available with Tracfone.

Basically, the Moto E, Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop, and LG Ultimate 2 are all better than the UNIMAX MaxPatriot. They all have larger screens, similar or better processors, more internal memory, similar or better cameras (and front facing), newer Android OS, longer battery life, and more, compared to the UNIMAX.

The only area where the MaxPatriot has an edge that we can find, is in it's lower initial retail price.

But if you compare the UNIMAX to the LG Optimus Fuel, which can be found for $20, we would go with the Optimus Fuel for the lower cost, and newer Android OS.

If you want to know our top choice in Tracfone devices, take a look at TracfoneReviewer's Best Tracfone Device.

Conclusion and Where to Find the UNIMAX MaxPatriot

As you can probably tell, we don't find the UNIMAX to be a very inspirational phone, and there are other options which will be a much better choice for most consumers. However, it is probably better than some of Tracfone's first Android devices, like the ZTE Valet, and LG Optimus Dynamic.

The MaxPatriot is available on the Tracfone website, and in some stores. We haven't found it on other online retailers yet.

Please read the comments below before you consider this phone, as many users are reporting a lot of dissatisfaction with this device. We strongly recommend choosing another device, as there are plenty of other Android options from Tracfone at a similar price, with much better performance.

Take a look at the interactive tutorial to learn more about how this phone works.

We hope this information is accurate and useful. Leave a comment below with your thoughts or questions about this phone.

LG 305C Tracfone Review

Review of the LG 305C Touchscreen Phone from Tracfone

This review by TracfoneReviewer will provide specs and features for the LG 305C, along with likes and dislikes, and where you can buy the phone for the best price.

LG 305C tracfone
Tracfone LG 305C Review
Tracfone Wireless is a low cost prepaid cell phone and service provider in America. They contract with major companies like AT&T and Verizon to use their networks.

The LG 305C uses the CDMA Verizon network and is very similar to the LG 306G which uses AT&T and other networks. If you know which network is better in your area, you can go with the appropriate phone, otherwise you might want to read our GSM vs CDMA Review to learn more about the two network options.

As we mentioned, the LG 305C is very similar to the LG 306G (click for our review), in fact they share almost all the same features. the key difference is that the LG 305C will use Verizon service.

The LG 305C is a touchscreen phone with a 3.2" screen and has 3G and WiFi connectivity. It is not an Android phone however, and thus does not have access to the wide variety of apps Android users enjoy.

Let's take a look at the features for this phone, followed by the phone specifications.

LG 305C Features and Specs

This phone comes with most standard features Tracfone devices usually come with like Voicemail, Caller ID, etc. It also comes with some other great features:
  • WiFi and 3G access for Mobile Web Browsing
  • Triple Minutes for Life
  • 5 Home Screens
  • 2 MP Camera and Recorder
  • SMS/MMS messaging (text/picture)
  • 4 GB Micro SD card included
  • Up to 32 GB Micro SD Card
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • MP3 Player
  • Gravity/Tilt sensor
  • 1000 Entry Phonebook
  • Alarm, Handsfree speaker, voice recorder
LG 305C Specs and Size:
  • 3.2" Touchscreen
  • Size: 4.08" x 2.47" x 0.47" (inches)
  • Weight: 3.80 OZ
  • Battery: 3 Hours talk time, 10 days on Standby
Most of the features for the LG 305C are similar to many of Tracfone's other touchscreen phones like the LG 840G, LG 306G and LG 800G. But the main difference, which we mentioned above, is that the LG 305C uses CDMA towers.

Let's get into what we like and dislike about the LG 305C to better understand if it will fit your needs and how it compares to other devices.

LG 305C Review - Likes and Dislikes

Starting with What We Like:

There are two big things we like about this phone, and they go together (kind of). They are WiFi and CDMA cell service. Why we like these features is because this is the first non-android phone that uses Verizon CDMA towers, and has WiFi. So for everyone out there who has been using phones like the LG 505C or Samsung R455C, you may want to consider switching to the LG 305C just for the WiFi feature.

LG 305C
LG 305C Review
WiFi allows you to connect to any wireless internet and surf the web for free, provided you can connect to the wireless network.

Another great feature is the included 4 GB Micro SD card which you can use to store lots of picture and music on. You can then use the MP3 player feature for the music. Transferring music to your phone from a computer can be done by either connecting a cable or putting the Micro SD card into a card reader.

Battery life for the LG 305C is good, with the standby time longer than most smartphones. However, the LG 306G has 17 days on standby while the LG 305C only has 10. This may be due in part to the way CDMA technology interacts with the phone.

Lastly, we like that the LG 305C does not use the '3 buckets' system that all new Android smartphones use. When you add minutes to the LG 305C they all go into one 'bucket' and are automatically tripled. If you are a heavy texter, using a phone with the single 'bucket' for minutes will allow you to have more texts.

We also want to mention that Promo Codes will also work on the LG 305C (but don't work on Android phones).

Dislikes for the LG 305C
When evaluating dislikes for the LG 305C, there are not many. It is a very solid phone that does the basic stuff of calling and texting well. But it doesn't exceed expectations much, and some users have found a variety of minor problems (which many phones have).

Two of the features which we wish were better are the camera and operating system.

The camera is 2 MP which is OK for quick pictures and for use on the phone, but if you want to actually use the pictures for anything beyond social media, the quality might not be there.

The LG 305C uses a proprietary Java based operating system which basically means you can't access apps like you would on an Android phone, with the same ease. You can still install apps, but there are less options to choose from.

The LG 305C has mixed reports regarding GPS ability. It appears to have GPS listed as a feature, but none can be found on the phone. It may be that the GPS is for use in emergency situations only.

Overall, the LG 305C has many great features, and the dislikes will probably not be a issue for most.

Overview and Where to Buy the LG 305C

We are excited about the LG 305C because it offers WiFi while using a Verizon CDMA cell service. Be sure to check if your area is usable for Verizon before you buy.

lg 305c
LG 305C on Amazon
If you're considering the LG 306G vs LG 305C, they are almost identical, with the main difference being which cell network they use.

The LG 305C is available both online and in stores and retails for $40, but we have found the LG 305C at half price for just $20 on Amazon. (we also found the LG 305C on eBay at the same price!)

For further information about this phone, check out the interactive LG 305C tutorial

We would recommend the LG 305C if you're in an area where Verizon service is your main option. But you may want to look into some of the other phones Tracfone has.

Tracfone currently has a wide variety of phones, ranging from Android Smartphones to simple flip phones, and even iPhone 4/4S on their BYOP program. If you're looking for phones, visit our Cell Phone Reviews page for more information.

These are only the top 5 LG brand phones, for those who like the LG brand and want to narrow their search to one brand. If you prefer other brands of cell phone, you may find our useful.
Cell Phone Reviews page

LG is a very popular electronics company that makes everything from TV's to refrigerators. They make some of the most cutting edge smartphones as well.

But the LG cell phones offered through Tracfone are not the newest or most recently released. They tend to be older models that have proven themselves with good value, durability and low cost.

LG products are great, and the same is true for their mobile devices from Tracfone, so let's get straight to the top 5 LG phones from Tracfone.

The Top 5 Best LG Brand Cell Phones Available at Tracfone

Starting with #5:

#5 - LG 440G
best LG cell phone tracfone
LG 440G
The LG 440G is a flip phone loaded with more features than one would expect for this compact phone.

It comes with fast mobile web, courtesy of 3G connectivity speeds. It also has a decent 1.3 MP camera, hands free speaker, voice dialing and all the other features normally included with a Tracfone. The only downside to this impressive little phone is that it only comes with Double Minutes for Life instead of the better Triple Minutes for Life that most newer Tracfone's now have.

Overall, this LG phone is small, convenient and has great value as a backup phone, or for other uses. You can read TracfoneReivewer's full LG 440G Review to learn more, including how to find it for less than retail price.

#4 - LG 530G
top 3 lg tracfone cell phones
LG 530G
This LG phone is a fine upgrade from other, older phones, including the LG 500G, which it is similar too. The LG 530G is a candy bar style phone (meaning no flipping or sliding parts), with a full QWERTY keyboard.

This phone is great for texting, in fact, it is one of TracfoneReviewer's top picks in our Best Tracfone Cell Phones for Texting post a few weeks back. The QWERTY keyboard makes texting quick and convenient, even for those unfamiliar with this style keyboard. If you haven't tried texting with a phone like this, it is well worth a try.

Other impressive features the LG 530 comes with include MP3 player, 1.3 MP camera, and best of all, Triple Minutes for Life. (which triples every minute added to the phone - a great value)

Overall, the LG 530G is a great LG brand cell phone offered by Tracfone and works well as an everyday phone. Triple Minutes for Life and easy texting makes it one of the best cell phones offered by Tracfone.

You can read our Review of the LG 530G to see the full feature list, and find our likes and dislikes for the phone.

#3 - LG 840G
lg 840G best tracfone cell phone
White LG 840G
Our #3 pick for best LG Tracfone is the 840G. It has modern features, and provides great value and functionality to consumers. It comes with Triple Minutes for Life, which means that every minute you add is tripled!

Three features that really stand out on the LG 840G are Touchscreen, MP3 player with 2GB MicroSD card included, and WiFi connectivity.

The LG 840G is one of only a handful of Tracfone Cell Phones with WiFi. WiFi connectivity allows you to connect to the internet for free and surf the web without using prepaid minutes. Needless to say, WiFi is a huge feature.

The touchscreen on the LG 840G is good, better than the touchscreen on the older, LG 800G. It may take some getting used to, but functions well and helps make this phone look like it is part of the modern smartphones, even if it isn't quite there yet.

Overall, the LG 840G is a stylish, feature rich phone that is the most modern offering from Tracfone. You can read our entire Review of the LG 840G to see all the features, and where to find it for less than the $50 retail price.

#2 - LG Optimus Dynamic
best LG phones from tracfone
LG Optimus Dynamic
The runner up in our list of top LG phones is the LG Optimus Dynamic. This phone is a true smartphone, running Android 2.3 and comes with a lot of features besides the ability to access thousands of apps in the Google Play store.

The touchscreen is 3.2", about the same as the LG 840G. The Dynamic also has WiFi, and Triple Minutes for Life.

It has a convenient size for those who don't want a large phone, and you can easily surf the web, browse YouTube, or play games on the phone. The storage space on the Optimus Dynamic isn't great, however, so you won't be able to load a large number of apps. But there are ways to move apps to the included SD card which helps increase the space.

Check out our full review of the LG Optimus Dynamic to learn more about the features. You can also take a look at the price on Amazon, which last check put it at under $20!

#1 - LG Optimus Dynamic II
top 5 lg tracfone devices
LG Optimus Dynamic II
As you can probably guess, the LG Optimus Dynamic II is a newer and better upgrade to the LG Optimus Dynamic. The Dynamic II has a larger 3.8" screen, WiFi, and more internal memory for storing things.

The LG Optimus Dynamic II runs Android 4.1 which is a newer version of Android OS. It also has a 3MP camera and lots of other great features.

The Dynamic II is one of the best Smartphones available from Tracfone at this time, but you should take a look at our List of Android Smartphones to see some of the options coming in the future, including the LG Optimus Fuel.

For more features and info, read our Review of the LG Optimus Dynamic II. It is currently selling for under $100 on Amazon and other places.

Important Note: It is important to be aware that there are two option for the Moto EX431G, one with Double Minutes for Life, and the other for Triple Minutes for Life. At this time, you can only buy the Double Minutes version on the Tracfone website, but you can get the Triple Minutes Moto EX431G on Amazon. Moto EX431G Likes and Dislikes

Starting with our Likes:

motorola ex431g review
Moto EX431G Menu
The Moto EX431G is a sturdy phone with some key features we really like about it including Triple Minutes for Life, QWERTY keyboard, and super low price.

Triple Minutes is a great deal with Tracfone. It means that for every minute you purchase and add to the phone, you get three. So if you buy a 60 Minute card, you will get 180 minutes total! And don't forget to use a Promo Code for even more minutes.

Remember that some versions of this phone only come with Double Minutes, so look carefully when buying this phone to be sure you get Triple Minutes.

The QWERTY keyboard on the Moto EX431G is probably one of the best features about this phone. It makes for fast and easy texting, although for those inexperienced with QWERTY keypads it may take some time to adjust to the small key size. If you tend to prefer larger keys, like the Alcatel Big Easy phone, then this might not work for you.

Finally, The price for the Moto EX431G is nearly unbeatable. This phone doesn't have the most advanced features, but it does give great value. It is currently $10 on the Tracfone websites (for the Double Minutes version) but you can get the Triple Minutes Moto EX431G on Amazon for $8.

Moto EX431G Dislikes

There are a few things we don't really like about the MotoGO, and will mention them here to help give you a better idea of what this phone has to offer. We will start with the Mobile Web.

This phone comes with Mobile Web, which allows you to surf the web from the phone. But it does go through minutes quickly, and is hardly worth it. Perhaps the most you will want to do is download new ringtones.

Another problem with the Mobile Web on the Motorola Ex431G is that the top right button is a shortcut to open Mobile Web from the home-screen. And each time you accidentally hit that button you are charged 0,5 minutes. It is annoying, but most will become accustomed to avoiding that button.

The MotoGO uses its own operating system which means it won't run Android apps like Tracfone's other smartphone devices. But this isn't so much a dislike as a heads up, if you're expecting a lot of additional features, look into our reviews of the Android Tracfone devices or Using an iPhone with Tracfone.

Overall, we don't have many dislikes for the Motorola Ex431G. It is a simple phone that provides good features and performance. It is a good choice for either a backup/emergency phone, or for those who enjoy saving money on cell phone service.

Overview and Final Thoughts on the Moto EX431G

The Moto EX431G is a good phone with great features and a nearly unbeatable price.

It runs on the GSM network, which many people might prefer if AT&T and T-Mobile service is strong in their area. (for more on what GSM means, read our guide to GSM Vs. CDMA)

At just $8 on Amazon for the Moto EX431G with Triple Minutes, if you have a phone with double minutes you should seriously consider switching.

The Details: The LG Optimus Dynamic is a Android powered smartphone that comes with Triple Minutes and uses the new three bucket system for Talk/Text/Data.

This phone comes with a lot of features including WiFi, 3.2" touchscreen, 3mp camera, Android 2.3 and more. Read our review of the LG Optimus Dynamic to learn more about the phone, and see what others are thinking.

The LG Optimus Dynamic does have a smaller on board memory capacity, so if you plan to use a lot of apps this might not be the phone for you, but it does come with a ton of features and a price that can't be beat!

2. ZTE Valet with 600 Minutes for $55 (Amazon)

The Details: The ZTE Valet is another Android smartphone from Tracfone with a big list of features including WiFi, Android 4.1, 3.5" touchscreen, 3mp camera, Triple minutes and much more.

The Valet is one of Tracfone's more popular Androids, although some users have experienced issues with WiFi connections. Check out our ZTE Valet Review to see all the features, and comments from users.

If you're looking for a cheap touchscreen phone with Triple Minutes, the LG 800G is an option at just $10 on Amazon.

LG 306G Tracfone Review

Full Review of the LG 306G from Tracfone

This review by TracfoneReviewer will cover the features, specs, likes and dislikes, and buying tips for the LG 306G.
LG 306G Review
Full Review of the LG 306G

Tracfone Wireless is a prepaid cell phone company providing low cost phones and minutes to customers throughout the US. They have a variety of phones, including Android smartphones (See our reviews of these phones on our Cell Phone Reviews page).

The LG 306G is a relatively new (2014) offering from Tracfone that features a touchscreen, WiFi, Triple Minutes for life and runs on GSM networks. (We will cover more about the GSM network further down).

It is similar to the very popular LG 840G, but a few years newer. Both phones use a non-Android OS and are a somewhat small size compared to other phones.

Let's take a look at the detailed features for the LG 306G.

LG 306G Features and Specs

This phone comes with all the standard features you expect from a non-Android phone.

  • WiFi Capability
  • GPS Connectivity
  • 5 Customizable Home Screens
  • 2MP Camera
  • Mobile Web with 3G Speeds
  • Text and Picture messaging
  • 4GB Micro SD Card (up to 32GB Compatible)
  • Bluetooth
  • MP3 Player
  • Gravity Sensor (tilt sensor)
  • 1000 Entry Phonebook
  • Handsfree speaker
  • Alarm Clock
  • Call Waiting, Caller ID, Voicemail, Voice Recorder
Specs and Dimensions
  • 3.2" Touchscreen
  • Size: 4.08" x 2.47" x 0.47" (inches)
  • Weight: 3.72 OZ
  • Battery: 3 Hours talk time, 17 days on Standby

The features and specs for the LG 306G are comparable to other Tracfone devices like the LG 530G, Samsung S390G or, as we mentioned already, the LG 840G.

The key features for this phone are GSM network, touchscreen, WiFi and Triple Minutes. Let's get into what we like, and don't like, about the LG 306G to break it down a little further.

LG 306G Review - Likes and Dislikes

Starting with what we Like:
LG 306G Review tracfone
Apps on the LG 306G

The LG 306G is similar to the LG 840G which was a very popular phone for Tracfone users. Thus, the LG 306G has many of these same great features.

WiFi access, 3G speed, and the 3.2" touchscreen are all very nice to have. The touchscreen is fairly bright and responsive. The phone also has 5 home screens which you can customize.

Battery life on the LG 306G is good, especially compared to smartphones. It should last a few days with moderate use, and even a week with light use (it is advertised to last 17 days on standby).

The phone comes with a 4GB Micro SD card which you can put music on, or use to store pictures etc. For those who want to put a lot of stuff on the phone, you can upgrade your SD card to up to 32GB.

We like that the LG 306G does not use the new '3 buckets' system for minutes, but rather the older option where you have minutes from one pool used for data, texting and calling. (If you would rather have separate pools for data, texts and calling, take a look at the Android smartphones.) This is the same way the LG 840G worked. Basically, if you do a lot of texting this is a better option for you. And this phone also comes with Triple Minutes for Life, so every time you add minutes they will be tripled.

The LG 306G uses the GSM network, probably running on AT&T cell phone service. All of the new Android smartphones use CDMA networks, which are Verizon towers. So if Verizon service isn't very good in your area, you should go with a GSM phone like the LG 306G (but make sure AT&T service is good in your area). To check, try asking your friends or neighbors, or enter your zip code on the Tracfone website. (for more on these networks, read our GSM vs CDMA Guide.)

Lastly, this phone will work with Tracfone Promo Codes! Unlike the Android smartphones Tracfone offers.

Now for a few dislikes.

LG 306G Dislikes
This phone is a pretty solid device that doesn't seem to have any big dislikes, but also doesn't really 'wow' in any areas either.

The lack of a main operating system like Android is a little disappointing. With Android OS you have access to thousands of apps. With the LG 306G, there are apps available, but not as many. We would recommend Opera Mini, which is a great app for browsing the internet.

The LG 306G isn't a new phone, even though it is new to Tracfone. So don't expect too much from it. There are a variety of quirks, such as the phone switching to landscape mode for texting, but if you don't mind things like this it is a good option.

The 2MP camera is not great, but that is to be expected for a phone like this.

If you find any problems with your LG 306G, let us know in the comments so we can mention them here.

Also, if you want more information, be sure to check out the full user guide linked below.

Overview and Buying Options for the LG 306G

Overall, the LG 306G is similar to the LG 840G, which isn't a bad thing, unless you are looking to upgrade from the LG 840G (in which case we would suggest a smartphone like the LG Optimus Dynamic II).
LG 306G tracfone review
LG 306G

The LG 306G is a simple, durable phone that will get the job done and won't be as bulky as most smartphones. It is a great choice for people who want something at a reasonable price, and don't need all the latest features. Overall, we like this phone. It isn't too fancy, but works well and has most of the features you would need for a cell phone.

For Tracfone customers, this is a pretty standard Tracfone device, and would make a good upgrade if you have an older phone, especially if you only have double minutes for life.

Where to find the LG 306G from Tracfone
You can find the LG 306G on the Tracfone website, currently selling for $50.

Dollar General among other stores is also selling this phone usually for a bit less.

There are sometimes some great bundles with this phone on HSN.com or ShopHQ.com.

We have also found the LG 306G on Amazon for less than $40.

LG Optimus Dynamic II Review

Review of the Android LG Optimus Dynamic II by Tracfone

This review by TracfoneReviewer, will cover the features, specs, buying information and overall opinion for the LG Optimus Dynamic II (LG L39C) from Tracfone.

LG Optimus Dynamic II LG L39C front
Front of the LG Optimus Dynamic II
The LG Optimus Dynamic II is essentially the replacement for the somewhat underwhelming (although much cheaper) LG Optimus Dynamic that Tracfone released with three other Android Smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Centura, Huawei Glory, and ZTE Valet, in mid 2013.

The Dynamic II is for use with Tracfone prepaid wireless service, and will not work with other service providers. Tracfone is a low cost, prepaid cell phone company throughout the US and they have several other companies under them, including StraightTalk and Net10. But Phones from one will not work with other companies.

The Dynamic II, along with the other Android Smartphones offered by Tracfone, runs on Verizon's 3G CDMA network. Be sure to check how the coverage in your area is before buying this phone.

Let's get straight to the Features and Specs for the Dynamic II.

LG Optimus Dynamic II Features and Specs:

This smartphone comes with several impressive and convenient features.
  • 3.8" Touchscreen
  • Android 4.1 'Jelly Bean' with access to thousands of apps on Google Play
  • Triple Minutes for Life
  • Separate talk/text/data
  • 3G speeds on Verizon's network
  • WiFi Connectivity
  • Bluetooth
  • 4GB Micro SD card included
  • 3MP camera (fixed focus)
  • MP3 Player
  • Hearing Aid Compatible
  • GPS
  • Gravity/Shake/Tilt sensor
  • Mobile Web, Email, Text, Caller ID etc.
  • Handsfree speaker
  • Voice Dialing
LG L39C Specs and Dimensions:
  • Phone Size: 4.43" x 2.55" x 0.47"
  • Screen Size: 3.8" (320x480)
  • Weight: 4.44 OZ
  • 1 Ghz Processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • Compatible with up to a 32GB Micro SD card
  • Battery Life: 8 hours talk, 11 days on Standby
If one compares the Dynamic II to the Dynamic, the Dynamic II is basically an improvement in almost every category. Screen size, battery life, processor and Android OS are all improved over the older version, and even over some of the other Android offerings from Tracfone.

Let's briefly highlight some of the features we like, and don't like on the LG L39C:

LG Optimus Dynamic II - Likes and Dislikes:

What We Like About the Phone:

He Dynamic II comes with Android 4.1, which is a newer version of the OS, but not the newest (the newest is currently 4.4). However, this is one of the newest versions that Tracfone is offering.

LG Optimus Dynamic II Review
Google Maps on the LG L39C
For those that might be unaware, Android is an operating system like Apple or Windows 8 but for cell phones. It allows you to have access to thousands of apps (like programs) that give the phone a huge list of possible features, depending on which apps you install. For more information, visit Google Play.

Screen size: The LG Optimus Dynamic II comes with the largest screen size of any Tracfone yet, at 3.8 inches (measured diagonally). This makes it easier to see things, easier to read things, and provides more area to work on the phone.

To give some perspective, the older, LG Optimus Dynamic had just a 3.2" inch screen and the even older LG 800G had even less at 2.8". The other Android smartphones from Tracfone have 3.5" screens.

Additional points about the LG L39C: The phone comes with a 3MP camera which will take good pictures outdoors, but probably will major problems in low light. WiFi has been reported as quite decent, and is a great way to save your data. Just make sure you turn off data when not using it!

There are many other great features included with this phone which you can see in the feature list above. Now let's take a look at some shortcomings for this phone.

What We Dislike about the LG Optimus Dynamic II

First off, this phone is, at this time, the latest and greatest offering from Tracfone, so there is a lot that it does right. However, we do want to point out a few shortcomings, or things we wish Tracfone would change.

The internal memory and RAM are still somewhat small compared to other modern smartphones. The 512mb of RAM is decent enough, but if you load up a lot of apps, you might push this phone to its limit pretty quickly. The Dynamic II has a little less than 2GB of internal memory for apps and other storage. This is OK, but if you plan to store a lot of movies or pictures, get a large SD card and try to put it on there. (This phone does come with a 4GB SD card which is nice).

The LG Optimus Dynamic II runs on Verizon 3G, along with all of Tracfone's other smartphones, and gets fairly good connectivity and coverage. However, roaming on these phones is not good, so if you travel frequently, you might want to wait to buy a new phone.

Finally, Promo Codes no longer work with Android phones from Tracfone which is a disappointment.

Adding and Tracking Prepaid Minutes on the Dynamic II

The way your track minutes, and how minutes are split up on the Android phones from Tracfone are a bit different, so we will cover that here.

Data, Talk and Text are now split into three separate 'pools' so that when you call or use data, you will still have the same number of texts as before. (EX: If you add a 200 minute card, it will be automatically tripled, and you will receive 600mb of data, 600 minutes for talk, and 600 texts).

This is a pretty good deal for almost anyone, except those who might do a lot more texting than calling or surfing the web. However, there are free apps that will text others for free when on WiFi or Data.

To check your airtime balance:
The easiest way to check your airtime on the LG Optimus Dynamic II is to download Tracfone's Airtime App. It is pretty simple to set up, and you can add airtime through it as well. You can almost go on the Tracfone website and check your account from there.

Phone Covers and Cases for the LG L39C:

The Dynamic II is prone to scratches, especially on the glass touchscreen, so it is a good idea to get a case and screen protector.

The Thousand Eight rubberized L39C cover is a good option, or you can view all the cover choices on Amazon including screen protectors.

Overall Review and Buying Tips for the LG Optimus Dynamic II

lg optimus dynamic II review
Dynamic II on Amazon
The Dynamic II is a sleek, modern smartphone that is honestly one of the best choices from Tracfone at this time. It has a larger screen than any other phone, and the rest of its features are similar or better as well.

Users have been reporting a large number of positive reviews, with few problems unlike the ZTE Valet or older Dynamic. (the Valet has had many reports of poor WiFi connection, and the old Dynamic is slower, and smaller).

Retailing for about $110, the LG Optimus Dynamic II is $99 on Amazon at this time, and can also be found at a great deal on sites like eBay, HSN and others.

If you check out the phone on Amazon, it has received an average rating of 4.2 out of 5, and there are a number of questions and answers available for additional information.

We do want to mention that there are some new phones on the horizon coming from Tracfone: The LG Optimus Fuel (LG L34C) is currently available, and the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style and Moto E are coming soon.

Huawei Glory Review - Android Tracfone

Review of the New Android Powered Huawei Glory from Tracfone

This Review by TracfoneReviewer will cover the Features, Specs, Buying information, Overall Opinion and more for the Huawei Glory - an Android Smartphone from Tracfone.

tracfone Huawei Glory Review
Front and Back of the Huawei Glory
The Huawei Glory is a smartphone offered by Tracfone for use on their prepaid wireless network. It runs on Android operating system and delivers modern smartphone features at a budget friendly, no-contract price.

The Huawei Glory is the last phone of several new Android smartphones recently released by Tracfone. The Glory is the last of several that we have reviewed here, and you can read our reviews of the Samsung Galaxy Centura, ZTE Valet and LG Optimus Dynamic to learn more about what each of these phones offers, and which you might want to buy if you are considering these phones. You might also want to check out the LG Optimus Dynamic II, which is currently our recommendation for the best phone from Tracfone.

We hope to deliver a side by side comparison of all four android smartphones in the near future to help guide you to the best phone for your needs.

Now, let's get to the Huawei Glory review

Review of the Huawei Glory - From Tracfone

Just like the other smartphones from Tracfone, the Huawei Glory runs on Android OS and uses CDMA towers, meaning it will run off of the Verizon 3G Network. The Glory is a candy bar style touchscreen phone that has many similarities in size and look to the other smartphones from Tracfone.

While the Huawei Glory is offered by several different cell phone service providers, only the phones marked as 'Tracfone' will work with Tracfone prepaid service. As far as we know, you can't switch between different SIM cards.

Let's get to the full features, specs and dimensions list..

Huawei Glory - Features and Specs
The Glory comes with some great features for a prepaid phone:
Huawei Glory Review tracfone android
Huawei Glory - Using Google Maps
  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • 3G Speeds
  • WiFi Connectivity
  • 3.2 Mega Pixel Camera and Video Recorder
  • Bluetooth
  • MP3 Player
  • GPS
  • Gravity and Tilt Sensor
  • Access to 700,000 apps
  • Hearing Aid Compatible
  • Alarm Clock
  • Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voicemail
  • Text and Picture Messaging
  • FM Radio
  • Supports up to a 32GB Micro SD card
  • Hands Free Speaker
Huawei Glory Dimensions and Technical Specs
  • 1 Ghz Processor
  • 3.5" Touchscreen
  • Size: 4.6" x 2.4" x 0.5'
  • Battery: 14 Days Standby, 5 Hours Talk Time
  • Weight: 4.5 ounces

A great feature list, with a nice 1 Ghz processor, GPS, and even FM Radio! This phone is a good upgrade from older non-smartphone cell phones offered by Tracfone. But it is important to now that it is an older model when compared with smartphones available from the major service providers.

But before we get into all the details, let's look at just our likes and dislikes for the Huawei Glory.

Huawei Glory Review - Likes and Dislikes

Likes for the Huawei Glory

There is a lot to like about the Glory, including the basic features like Triple Minutes for Life, 3.2 MP Camera, GPS, WiFi and 3G speeds.

tracfone review Huawei Glory
Huawei Glory - FM Radio
With Triple Minutes for Life, you will automatically get any minutes you add to the phone tripled. So if you add a 60 minute card, you will get 180 total minutes.

The 3.2 MP Camera is decent, and better than almost all other Tracfone devices. It will work for situations when you just want to capture the moment. But for those sunset scenes, you should have a real camera.

WiFi is a great feature that most new Tracfone mobile phones are coming with these days. It allows you to connect to wireless networks (the internet) and browse the web without using your data/minutes. The WiFi on the Glory has been reported as being very good, much better than that of the ZTE Valet which has received some negative reviews for that.

The GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) feature makes it possible to use apps like Google Maps to get driving directions and figure out where you are if you get lost. Speaking of apps....

One of the biggest features (and the main reason most people will want these new Tracfone Smartphones) is Android 4.0, and access to over 700,000 apps on Google Play. While Android 4.0 is not the newest (The latest is 4.4 at this time) it is a relatively new version, better than the version 2.3 that the LG Optimus Dynamic comes with.

Last (but not least) the Huawei Glory comes with an FM Radio for listening to your favorite stations. None of the other smartphones from Tracfone offer this feature, and it is a nice benefit if you enjoy the radio.

Dislikes for the Huawei Glory
There are a few things that we want to mention that we didn't like.

The Huawei Glory doesn't come with a Micro SD card. While this isn't really a problem, the ZTE Valet and LG Optimus Dynamic both come with a 4 GB Micro SD Card (and they are all the same price).

The way prepaid minutes work on the new Android Smartphones is different, with minute cards now being split up into three pools or buckets - Data/Calling/Texting. This means that if you buy a 60 minute prepaid card, you will get it tripled to 180 calling minutes/ 180 mb data/ 180 texts.

While this new setup does benefit most people, and is a pretty good deal, for those who just text a lot, you will run out of texts much faster.

Two other dislikes we have for the Huawei is that Promo Codes won't work on any of the Android phones, and we are getting conflicting reports about where or not you can use the Family Value Plan, which is a great deal for all the families out there. We hope that Tracfone might change both of these policies, and we will try to keep you posted on this.

That about covers our likes and dislikes, now here is a quick tip for checking the airtime display on the Glory.

Update - A number of customers have brought up a wide variety of problems with the Glory, ranging from unreliability to possible defects and certain phones. If you get a phone with problems, we recommend trying to return it to where you got it, or contact Tracfone about it and they may send a new phone.

How to Check You Airtime Display on the Huawei Glory

On the Glory, as well as the other Tracfone Smartphones, you may not find the airtime balance you are accustomed to seeing on your home screen. Here is how to check your airtime balance if you don't have it on the home screen:

Download the Official Tracfone App from Google Play to check your airtime balance and even add airtime to the phone.

You can also log on to your Tracfone account and submit a balance request, OR simply set up a bookmark in your browser (on your computer or phone) to go to "https://www.tracfone.com/direct/CheckBalance?input_phone=1234567890" (replace 1234567890 with your phone number). You'll get a free text message on your phone with your balances. The service end date is not in the text message. It's only shown on the browser screen.

Overall Review for the Huawei Glory from Tracfone

This phone is a fantastic upgrade from older Tracfone devices. The app market opens up a world of opportunities and features that will keep you busy for days if you let it.

We found this phone to be one of the better options between the four new Android Smartphones, and we like that it has a 1 Ghz processor with Android 4.0. The battery life also seems to be very good, easily lasting through a day with moderate use.

This phone compares most similarly with the ZTE Valet, with each using Android 4.0 or better, and each containing a 1 Ghz processor. The Valet does come with a Micro SD card, and they both are the same price ($99), although the ZTE Valet has been on sale on Amazon for around $75.

It really comes down to a matter of personal preference, and which features are important to you. If you like the FM Radio, go with the Glory, if you want the newer Android version, the Valet is your choice.

The Huawei Glory can be found at the Tracfone website, and many other online retailers. It can also be found in stores like Wal-Mart.

You can also find a wide variety of Covers and Cases for the Huawei Glory on Amazon.

Overall, the Huawei Glory is not the newest smartphone, but it is a good smartphone, especially for use with Tracfone Prepaid service. It is one of the best choices between the other four smartphones offered by Tracfone. You can view our reviews for the other smartphones, as well as other phones offered by Tracfone, on our Cell Phone Reviews page.
